Emotional Freedom Technique; Chinese

Developed in the 1990’s the emotional freedom technique is based upon the ancient Chinese beliefs of the body’s natural energy channels. Used as a personal development therapy, this method is built from the principles of Chinese medicines of acupressure, acupuncture and psychology.

It is a very simple and very effective technique with results apparent extremely quickly.

Using only the finger tips, thoughts and natural energy flow, this treatment is just one of many meridian energy techniques and was originally derived from a method called Thought Field Therapy (TFT).

Aims of the Emotional Freedom Technique
Using the end points of the twelve meridians of the body, or energy channels, and incorporating two of the major vessels of the body, the therapist ‘taps’ these points with the aim of releasing negativity and allowing the natural and positive energy flow throughout the body.

The person receiving the treatment is able to restore a balance and alter their attitudes and beliefs to a more positive tune.Therapists believe that anxiety, stress and distress block these natural channels and cause negativity to build up and thereby increasing the anxiety and worry. By tapping these points, the channels become unblocked and the body rebalances itself, both physically and psychologically and normal function is restored.

It is an entirely natural therapy and requires no medications or equipment. It is ideal for those who are conscious of their natural environment and prefer to find a pure treatment method for their phobia.

How Is the Therapy Performed?
Using a qualified therapist or after being taught the correct technique by a qualified person, the sufferer concentrates on the image, memory of thought that is causing them distress and the therapist taps on each of the twelve points with their fingers at a correct pressure causing the negative thoughts to pass from the body.

Effects of the Emotional Freedom Technique
At the end of the session the person will continue to retain the image or memory, but will be able to think about it without negativity or worry in a more rational and logical manner.

It is a painless technique and works quickly with a full course of treatment taking only a short time.

Who Performs The Therapy?
Once the therapy has been learned, it can be self-administered and can be used for many situations in life and can be a very useful tool. The technique can be learned from a CD, DVD or from a book, but it is recommended that the technique is learned from an existing professional who can demonstrate the method in person.

If attending sessions with a therapist, always ensure they have a good success rate and have a reputable source of training, as Do-It-Yourself DVD’s cost very little and allow the person to set up as a qualified therapist who may charge large fees for their service.

Many therapists however, are so confident of their service and of the power of this therapy, that they only accept payment if the treatment has been successful.

The emotional freedom technique is a very useful, highly effective and cost-effective treatment option for many conditions that cause anxiety and distress including phobias. It can achieve very good results in a short space of time, and, with practice, can be used when tackling other issues in life that cause anxiety.
